Film-maker Darren Aronofsky (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004716) purchased the rights of the Japanese animated thriller Perfect Blue, not because he wanted to remake it, but because he wanted to use one particular shot of person screaming in a bathtub in the movie Requiem for a Dream. He was so obsessed with the film that one can also notice many similarities between Black Swan (He got an Oscar nomination for this one) and Perfect Blue. This shows Aronofsky's love for the Japanese film and the influence it's had on him.
