The movie, as expected, got its share of stellar performances from Hrithik Roshan and Rishi Kapoor.
The
film has everything - Sheen, gloss, stars, colors, but no soul. It lacks
purpose & fails to convince. The lagging and crappy screenplay ruined the
movie, but kudos to the surprise performance by Rishi Kapoor, he's the most
villainous person in the movie. And now to be fair, Sanjay Dutt is legendary.
You LOVE Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) for his badness but you HATE Rauf Lala (Rishi
Kapoor) for his badness, that's how you perceive the diversity in their
characters. Sanjay Dutt says his look in Agneepath is inspired from 'The Joker'
in The Dark Knight. Either he's retarded or he spelt Voldemort wrong (Harry
Potter fans, make a note). Never judge a movie by its poster unless it has got
Sanjay Dutt on it. Then you know it's going to be lot of fiction.
In short,
Karan Johar's father had all the RIGHTS of Agneepath and now the son has all
the WRONGS. It's better if he sticks to something he's got at, like "Bole
chudiya, bole kangana... Le ja le ja" sort of stuff. I just wanna mention
the typical awkward moment when the hero gets up even after being stabbed six
times. God save the cinema. As Kancha Cheena says, "Tu meri tarah nahi
hai, tere me moh, maya, mamta hai" - that is the difference between the
old and new Agneepath. Watch it to relive the moments where actors play larger
than life characters and for some real HEROISM or avoid it to save yourself
from walking on AGNEEPATH!!
P.S. The film has grossed
Rs 25 crore on Day 1 and surpassed the previous record held by 'Bodyguard'.
Look at our expenditure folks; we still say we are POOR!!
