'S' for STUPENDOUS
Sujoy Ghosh, the director,
made an intellectually stimulating film. This dark thriller doesn't grow heavy
on you, but will definitely remain with you for a long time. He finally found
his groove and his muse in Kolkata. The superbly crafted narration makes it an
edge of the seat flick. No wonder, he may be the next Satyajit Ray, if he
remains consistent in his art of storytelling.
'T' for TWISTED
It's so convoluted that
you feel the knots in your stomach. Don't try to find logic in everything, it
can lead to insanity. My advice is to leave all your work and go watch the
movie before you get to know the plot!! Lot of spoilers around, grrrr.
'O' for OMG moments
They made every one aghast
and cupping their open mouths out of supreme shock. Mystic nature of Kolkata
lanes are actually the reason behind the terrifying suspense. The moment of
glory when spirituality makes way for a clear conscience as Amitabh Bachchan
sings Rabindranath Tagore's "Ekla Cholo Re" in Bengali and Hindi - a
stroke of genius.
'R' for RIVETING
One can barely breathe
with each new layer of suspense getting peeled off. Such a tight script, you
will forget there could even be flaws. There is no song and dance but the
background score compliments the story very well. Suspense builds up every time
and the brilliant use of old songs in the background increases the nostalgia.
'Y' for YESTERDAY
The last day that everyone
said "All Vidya Balan could do was show us a Dirty Picture." Today
the tables turned and there is a new hero (in the form of a heroine) in
Bollywood who does not need a male lead to attract crowds. She is Vidya Balan
and she delivers yet another National award winning performance.
